Greetings to our Pottery, Glass, and Metal Annealing Artists.

I thought I'd take a moment during my busy schedule to answer some frequently asked questions about our kilns, tool range, controllers and whatever information you need to ensure your work is safe n sound in our kilns and protect your sanity when trying

to program a new controller or work out why you keep getting an EA4 message on your Bentrup! Why is that by the way? Well stay tuned to find out more. Any questions you would like answered, simply use the enquire today page and I'll get to it in between kiln builds.

Firstly, let's talk about programming your Bentrup controller. Initially for some this may seem a very daunting task, but I assure you if you can operate your TV remote control you can operate a Bentrup.

If you think about firing your kiln like a bell curve below:

Across the bottom, we have the segments it takes to complete the firing and the curve represents the temperature in the kiln.

You navigate through the firing program using the left and right arrow buttons as shown highlighted in red below.

If you press the left arrow repeatedly it will stop at 0.00. (or a number in this format if you have added a delay by accident). This is the delayed start feature at the beginning of every program.

It is measured in hours then minutes. please don't set it to "30.00" if you want 30 minutes delayed start - you'll be waiting a long, long, long time before it starts! 30 hours in fact!

You adjust the values of delayed start, ramp rate, or the destination temperature using the plus or minus buttons highlighted in red below.

You then set each segment up for a Ramp Rate (RR), a destination temperature and then a hold or soak if required.

E.g.

RR = 200 deg per hour.

Temp = 800 Deg

Hold = 0.10 = Ten minutes

Some of the older Bentrup's measure ramp rates in Minutes /Hours to get to temperature. The RR format will be similar to the delayed start 0.00. H.MIN.

So that's enough information to get you started, remember to fully read the instruction manual and check out our you tube video of programming a TC88.

Any questions or queries please us the enquire today page.
